Traveling Utah and Arizona with kids

Are you thinking (or just dreaming) about visiting Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon or Grand Canyon? But you don´t know how to do it with little kids?

We did it in 2011 and again in 2012 and it was both times ok for us and the kids! And here is how we did it:
  • we stayed in one place the whole time (didn´t want to pack and unpack each day)
  • we rented a town house (2012) instead of a hotel (2011) which gives us the chance to take a break if needed

We stayed in Kanab, UT a little town surrounded by nothing but nature and with all facilities you would need for your stay (grocery stores, cafes, visitor center, nice playground, and of course some fast food options). And the following National Parks, National Monuments, State Parks are all in day trip distance:

  • Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park - 30 min
  • Zion National Park - 45 min
  • Page (Glen Canyon National Recreational Area, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon) - 1 h 15 min
  • Bryce Canyon - 1 h 30 min
  • Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument: Toadstools - 45 min
  • Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument: Slot Canyons - 2 h
  • Vermilion Cliffs (Buchskin Gulch, Coyote Buttes North, Coyote Buttes South, White Pocket - for some of those permits are required and a guide recommended) - 1 h to 2 h
  • Grand Canyon North Rim - 2 h
Next, you will find some impressions of our trips to make you want to go even more ;-).
